It's Sky's Ending... but not the end of "Realms of Kyre" - the epic fantasy series.

As the great Citadel of Annaid Baile falls to Kyre, what next for him? And the Five Realms?
As the great Citadel of Annaid Baile falls to Kyre, what next for him? And the Five Realms?

Realms of Kyre – Books I to VII - the story so far, to the destruction of Annaid Baile

Found badly injured in the Acon forest swamp, speaking an unknown language, Kyre is thought to be from The Pit – the fiery hell below.

A secret sisterhood, the Rua, helps him to recover from wounds and burns that would be fatal to others, but also endeavours to control him with potions and incantations that deeply instil him with loyalty to the realm and to the sisters.

Displaying astonishing speed and demonic brutality, he is forced to fight for his life, and then for Rogor, the lord of the Lordlands Realm – also known as The Rangelands.

Soon finding himself engaged in brutal enforcement and punishment assignments for the Rua, he is also obliged to form and lead a band of aristo and merchant youngsters, including Lord Rogor’s adult offspring, The Troop. With them, or alone, he is extremely successful in fighting rebel provinces, raider groups, brigands and armed invading forces from neighbouring realms.

Although he recovers well from frequent serious injuries, the scars remain in body and mind. Even so, in his travels, he finds many ladies are attracted to him, and seek to become his lover. Some revel in his naive, uncultured charm; or his strength and physique; or even a desire for the seed of a man with such preternatural inner power.

He is torn by opposing, but compelling drives by the Sisters, and by Lord Rogor and his family. Mounting treachery among them, and within The Troop, push him to the fore in ever more violent retaliation actions and battles.

Odd words and thoughts that come to his mind; along with his inner power and speed, make him ponder on his unknown origin, and he finds himself believing more and more that he has a guardian star. His hopes for guidance from his star, however, go unanswered, as do his prayers for insight into his destiny.

In winning, he rarely receives payment, other than what he decides to confiscate or steal for himself. He amasses vast wealth, and forms a tight, and secret brotherhood with three men who have well-fitting skills and powers in areas of high finance and document “retruthing”.

Undertaking a protracted assignment in two border provinces, he uses his immense bursts of speed, strength, and ferocity to bloodily massacre Aitierran forces that have been infiltrating en masse, in preparation for a full-scale incursion.

Although he has defeated the lord’s enemies, Rogor sees him as a great threat, and condemns him to be tortured, and flogged to death. Barely surviving, Kyre flees to the Rinjee, a mountainous forest region, where he finds peace and recovery time with a forestry family.

Discovered by the Rua, they threaten him into going to the supposedly friendly neighbouring realm of Broganta, where he is to help Lord Brogon to develop the explosive blackpowder. Once there, he realises he is virtually a prisoner, and later learns that a war has begun between the two realms. One of Lord Rogor’s children has been killed; and another, Katena, has been captured, although her identity is not yet realised.

In desperation for her life, and his own, Kyre uses the blackpowder to destroy the Brogantan palace-fort and citadel of Annaid Baile in a series of tremendous explosions. Injured and dazed in the blasts, Kyre wanders in search of Drerrielda, the wine-producer who he has lined-up as the new, and much friendlier, Lord of Broganta.
