But the Rua are playing a generational chess match, and every alliance they offer carries a barbed edge.
The mapping out of the political landscape of the Lordlands becomes a fascinating intrigue as it transpires that no faction is unified. Kyre finds himself perpetually torn between three competing, volatile forces: the strict controls of the Sisterhood, the erratic commands of the increasingly maddened High Lord Rogor, and his own internal drive to discover his true origin.
